Job Description:

This position will assist in the coordination of a consistent, vigorous and effective communications program. This includes the digital media presence of the Fargo Park District brand consisting of websites for Fargo Park District and its sub-brands, as well as photo and video management. Serve as brand ambassador through coordination of brand and logo management; booth promotions; and assistance in communications training for Park District staff to aid in the creation of dynamic website content. Operate as the marketing lead for Fargo Golf. Actively participate in marketing project development for various departments.


Essential Functions

Evaluation of this position is based primarily on performance of the following essential functions, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Developing and maintaining websites for Fargo Park District, and sub-brands of Fargo Golf, Valley Senior Services and Courts Plus including but not limited to:,,, etc.
  • Utilizing local trends to promote the park district as a whole.
  • Serving as marketing lead for Fargo Golf. Working with Golf staff, developing message and working with creative staff to design and place advertisements.
  • Coordinating with departments and outside partnerships, submitting events to websites, and sharing appropriate information accurately and timely to meet established goals.  
  • Maintaining established branding and logo presence during all program seasons and activities with assistance from appropriate staff.
  • Researching and evaluating website platform for development and search engine optimization in assessing the current trends in media. 
  • Analyzing the performance of the campaigns for assigned departments.  Make recommendations for changes to reach the intended goals.
  • Managing digital asset library including photos, graphics and video.
  • Managing the development, design, proofing and distribution of signage, flyers and bathroom boards. Managing and editing projects including but not limited to the Campground Brochure, Events Brochure, and Golf Brochure.
  • Providing communications, branding and website training for appropriate staff.
  • Supervising seasonal intern projects. Coaching and training interns for success in completing projects.  


Other Functions

Evaluation of this position may also be based on occasional performance of the following other functions, which include, but are not limited to:

  • Creating media campaigns to ensure cohesion among media platforms.  
  • Developing strategies to market the Fargo Park District and Fargo Golf brands with supervisor.
  • Assisting supervisor with development of the budget.
  • Assisting with video and photo production and editing as needed.
  • Keeping direct supervisor promptly informed of key/significant issues or concerns.
  • Carrying out duties and responsibilities in a safe and efficient manner to maintain safe work environment and surrounding area for oneself, co-workers and public.  Responds to hazardous situations and/or potentially unsafe conditions by taking corrective action as capable and promptly notifying supervisory personnel.
  • Performing related duties as assigned or apparent.

Experience and Skills:

Education/Experience – Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Multimedia Journalism, Communications, or related field is required. Hands-on experience with Search Engine Optimization, content management systems, and website analytics is required with a minimum of 2 years’ experience website management. Experience with photo and video documentation and editing as well as graphic design is also preferred.

Credentials/Licenses/Certifications – Must possess a valid driver’s license.

Other –

  • Solid knowledge of Adobe programs such as Photoshop, InDesign, Premier etc. and other media editing software.
  • Familiarity with web design and content management systems.
  • Experience with supervising part-time staff is preferred.
  • Experience with creating promotions and campaigns.
  • Excellent project management skills.
  • Ability to speak and write clearly, concisely and persuasively using correct grammar, spelling and punctuation with ability to communicate on camera, one-on-one, or in group settings.
  • Strong ability to proof ads and content, analyze metrics and evaluate graphic design.
  • Ability to perform work with a high degree of accuracy and organization.  An ability to multitask and perform under tight deadlines.
  • Ability to think creatively and innovatively.
  • Strong business acumen, including problem solving, vision, ability to manage multiple programs and meet deadlines, collaboration, leadership, decision making and ability to analyze diverse facts and develop clear and concise reports and recommendations.
